We all know Haiti from the photos from the earthquake.  The destruction in the cities is all some associate with the country.

These photos show an area in the north not often seen by the world.  Early-morning fishermen setting out for the day in a sailboat.  The sails patched together from a random collection of materials.

 


 

 

 

Much of Haiti is just that: taking what little you have and making something useful with it.  Whether it be farming a small plot of land, or going fishing in an overloaded, patched-up old sailboat.
